Animal friendly tourism

Join us in keeping the pressure on Thomas Cook Group to stop selling elephant rides and shows

News

Become an animal friendly traveller this holiday season. Help us spread the word and sign the petition to change the face of wildlife tourism for good.

Thanks to your support we have made fantastic progress with travel companies around the world, to help end the use of wildlife for entertainment.

You have joined over 140,000 people across the globe calling on the Thomas Cook Group to end the sale of elephant rides and shows to their customers.

Thomas Cook are listening, and together we are watching to see if they will join the 83 other companies around the world, like Intrepid Travel and World Expeditions, who have already signed the elephant friendly tourism pledge, and committed to end their support of this cruel industry.

Whoever you book your next holiday with, you can protect wild animals on your holidays by being informed and alert to the welfare of the animals you encounter. We’ve created an animal friendly tourism guide to help you make animal friendly choices when you travel, including following these simple steps:

Do your research: investigate the venues you intend to visit. If animal encounters are offered, how are the animals treated and where did they come from?

Ask questions: check if your tour operator or travel agent has an animal welfare policy. Ask your friends and family about their experiences.

Make positive choices: Support tourism that does not exploit wild animals.

Think about culture: Always be respectful when you travel, but remember that culture is not an excuse for cruelty.
