Every day, thousands of wild animals are poached, farmed or sold into the global multi-billion-dollar trade – for food, pets, traditional medicine and entertainment. Horrific conditions cause unimaginable suffering for every single animal involved. They also create a hotbed of zoonotic disease, leading to outbreaks like SARS and now COVID-19.

With the COVID-19 pandemic sweeping across the globe, we can no longer ignore the dangers of exploiting wild animals.

Beyond the pain inflicted on animals, we must stop this trade in wild animals now to help prevent future global health crises and protect our environment for generations to come.

Demand world leaders act to end the suffering of wild animals and protect our health

World Animal Protection is demanding world leaders come together and act to end the suffering of wild animals and protect our health. When the G20 meet on October 30-31 in Rome, Italy, they will focus on dealing with the pandemic and coordinating a global response.

That response must include a commitment to ending the global trade in wild animals forever.

This will help stop future pandemics and protect millions of animals.

As a G20 member, India has a strong voice at the summit. We are asking Prime Minister of India, who will represent the country at the summit, to support the call to end wildlife trade forever.

World leaders must ban the global wildlife trade for animals, people and planet

By signing this petition, you too are asking the Prime Minister of India to raise his voice in support to end wildlife trade forever at the G20 summit. You are also asking the Government of India to effectively enforce existing wildlife protection laws and stop the trade of wild animals and wild animal products.

His support will help protect wild animals, our health, the environment, and the economy. Sign the Petition!

G20: End the wildlife trade

The global trade of wild animals is cruel, unsustainable and puts our health and the world economy at risk. We demand Prime Minister of India to support the call for G20 nations to commit to a global ban on the wild animal trade, forever.

We also ask the Government of India to effectively enforce existing wildlife protection laws and stop the trade of wild animals and wild animal products.

Wild animals don’t belong to us, they belong in the wild

This global crisis has exposed the urgent need to keep wild animals in the wild – something we have spent decades fighting for.

Now is the time to come together to end the suffering of wild animals and protect people.
