Empowering vet students to protect animals when disasters hits

We are continuing to work with India’s next generation of veterinarians to equip them with the knowledge to protect animals in disasters.
Soon to be graduates from the College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Anand, Gujarat, recently attended a major Veterinary Emergency Response Unit (VERU) training workshop.
Animals are often the forgotten victims in a disaster. Thousands lose their lives, and many more are injured and lost due to lack of adequate measures to handle and protect them.
Over a four-day training workshop, final year veterinary students learnt different feed, water, safety and security measures to help protect animals in emergencies.
Working with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), our VERU training for veterinary graduates helps develop specialist disaster handling skills to protect the animals and the people who depend on them.
Thanks to your support, more veterinarians are being trained in disaster response, and empowered to meet the needs of animals in future emergencies.
This essential training assists the government, and people of India, to prepare and respond quickly to protect animals when crisis hits.
